Tonight: A Highly Anticipated Talk

Wednesday, November 20, 7:30 p.m.  The Winter Army: The U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division in WWII, an illustrated talk and book-signing with author Maurice Isserman, professor of history at Hamilton College.  Copies of the book (full title, The Winter Army: The World War II Odyssey of the 10th Mountain Division, America’s Elite Alpine Warriors) will be available for purchase and signing. This talk, part of the Hamilton College at The Other Side series,  is free and open to the public.
We are pleased to be expecting a veteran of the 10th Mountain Division, Martin Brown of Barneveld, 101 years old, to be present tonight!

Please note: there will be neither Thursday nor Saturday Gallery hours this week.

Friday, November 22, 9-5 (possibly going later) and Saturday, November 23, 9-5, Cheese man Mike Haritos returns in time for Thanksgiving with his usual vast and varied selection of imported cheeses and other food imports. He’ll be joined both days by Kneady Baker Joe Silberlicht, whose fabulous artisanal breads will bring their perfection to your Thanksgiving dinner.  Judy Bach of Bach Farms will also likely be present with her locally raised, grass fed beef, lamb and pork. I will try to confirm this later in the week.

Sunday, November 24, 9:00 a.m.  A Temenos Talk by Kim Domenico.  Title TBA.

A Preview (Corrected) of Exciting December Jazz:
Those attending the phenomenal concert on Saturday with pianist Andrew Carroll’s quintet received early notice of December’s exceptional Jazz offering.  This one, on Friday, December 13, 8:00 p.m., will feature NYC trumpeter Carl Fischer and the Organic Groove Ensemble.  The ensemble includes special guest guitarist Jeff Barone (a TOS favorite, on his 3rd visit to TOS), Mike Cortese on drums, Andrew Carroll on organ, and Mike Dubaniewicz on sax.   Tickets for this very special jazz event will be $20, $10, students. We expect to pack our small house with this one – we recommend reserving early!
